Risk & Prevention
Throughout the year, the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) urges increased emphasis on helping women understand the steps that can be undertaken to reduce the risks for gynecologic cancers. We encourage people to learn about risk and prevention of cancers unique to female reproductive organs.
Maintaining Health
One-third of all cancer deaths in the U.S. each year are linked to diet and physical activity. To reduce the risk of developing certain types of cancers, it’s important to maintain a healthy weight, be physically active and eat a healthy diet.
Risk Factors
The Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) encourages everyone to learn about the risk factors associated with gynecologic cancers unique to female reproductive organs.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
HPV is a very common virus. The HPV infection is present in 45 percent of men between the ages of 18 and 59, and 40 percent of women between the ages of 18 and 59. While an HPV infection can cause cervical cancer, most people with HPV will not get cervical cancer.
