CANCER HITS CLOSE TO HOME FOR FWC/SGO STAFF

Every year staff members of the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) and the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) support the National Race to End Women’s Cancer with a fundraising team.

For many staff members, the mission to help end women’s cancer is personal. Many of us have watched their mothers and grandmothers cope with a gynecologic cancer and have chosen to spend their days devoted to the cause. But, this year cancer hits very close to home.

In February, one of our staff members, Senior Manager of Quality and Outcomes Amy Dancisak, was diagnosed with endometrial cancer.

Our hearts are with Amy as she goes through her cancer journey. Amy has already finished her radiation treatment and is back in the office on the path to recovery. “I will always have to be a warrior,” Amy said. “My cancer journey will always be in the back of my mind.”

Since Amy likes to describe herself as a warrior, the FWC/SGO will be her avengers. In 2017, we renamed the staff team, Amy’s Avengers, and raised over $5,700.

Join the National Race to End Women’s Cancer in Washington, DC with survivors, advocates and loved ones committed to ending women’s cancers.

The race is part of the End Women’s Cancer Weekend, hosted by the FWC, which offers survivors, families and friends an opportunity to join in the movement with fun, education and advocacy.
